How do you build a Wind Farm?
June 26, 2018 @ 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm
Electric Energy Society of Australia (EESA) and IEEE Power Energy Society (PES) Joint Event
With more and more wind farms being designed and constructed all over Victoria, who and what does it take to plan, build and operate a wind farm? This talk will overview the Wind Farm build process from the Balance of Plant perspective.
Biography of the speakers:
Kingsley Slipper has a background in construction and Project Management from his Building degree at Melbourne University. This was viewed at the time as a multi-disciplinary course based in the Faculty of Architecture but included subjects in other faculties such as Engineering and Accounting. Kingsley worked with Lend Lease and Goodman before shifting into renewable energy ten years ago. Kingsley worked as a Proposals Manager for wind turbine manufacturer Suzlon and then focused on Business Development. For the last six years he has worked with Leighton and RCR Infrastructure who build utility scale renewable projects on an EPC basis.
Jerome Rowcroft began his career in Renewable Energy in Hydro Tasmania Consulting’s (now Entura) Wind Energy team in 2008 working on a range of projects across Australia, Asia and Africa. He then completed doctoral studies at Monash University, performing wind tunnel studies of flow over various shaped cliffs to improve wind turbine siting methodology. He spent three years as a wind farm developer, progressing wind farms from inception through pre-construction phases at Wind Farm Developments. He is now working for Middleton Group, in both the utility scale renewable energy space, as well as assisting clients with bespoke renewable energy solutions.
