Victorian IEEE Photonics Society Chapter co-hosted Seminar by Dr Rachel Won
December 12, 2017 @ 11:00 am - 12:30 pm
Nature Photonics is a monthly journal dedicated to optics and photonics that publishes top-quality, peer-reviewed research in all areas of light generation, manipulation and detection. Come to listen to this talk if you want to know how to get your papers published in Nature Photonics (as well as in any Nature journals) as it provides detailed guidelines on scientific manuscript preparation and submission, and an overview of the editorial process and the peer-review system in all Nature journals. You will get to know what editors seek, how to write a good cover letter and a good scientific paper, what kind of process your paper will go through and how to make an appeal. *The optional lab tour will give insight into some of photonics labs, and provide an overview of the range of capabilities of the photonics community at RMIT University.
About the Speaker: Dr Rachel Won joined Nature Photonics in June 2006 as one of the four founding editors. Before joining the journal, she worked for Aston University’s Business Partnership Unit in Birmingham, UK, as a research commercialization officer commercializing photonics research output of the university. She obtained her PhD in microwave photonics and nonlinear optics as a member of Aston’s Photonics Research Group. Prior to that, she worked for Philips Optical Storage in Singapore as an Optics Engineer. She holds a Master’s degree from Nanyang Technological University of Singapore and a Bachelor’s degree from the National University of Malaysia.
It is hosted by MNRF, RMIT University, IEEE Photonics Society Chapter, Victoria and RMIT OSA Student Branch. Tuesday 12th December 2017, from 11:00 am (start) – 12.30pm thereafter with lunch an Optional Tour of Facility at RMIT University, Venue – Advanced Manufacturing Precinct, Building 55, Level 3, Room 4, 58 Cardigan Street, Melbourne, Victoria 3001.
