IEEE Symposium on Data Analytics and Internet of Things (ISDAIOT 2020)
Organised by Computational Intelligence Society, IoT Community and University of Melbourne Student Branch IEEE Victorian Section presents “IEEE Symposium on Data Analytics and Internet of Things (ISDAIOT 2020)”, a virtual technical event series during 29th September - 19th November 2020. The symposium includes diverse sessions including technical talks, workshops, poster competitions, and panel discussions to promote the use of Data Analytics and IoT Technologies for real-time applications. This symposium provides a unique opportunity for industry and academic experts as well as students to get an insight on Data Analytics and Internet of Things, through a series of presentations and hands-on workshops, delivered by experts in the field. The talks will be held for an hour every Tuesday (5.00-6.00 PM) and Wednesday (6.00-7.00 PM), beginning from 29th September while the two-hour hands-on data analytics workshop will be delivered from the second Thursday of October (October 8, 2020, 5.00-7.00 PM). Underground design can sometimes be viewed as the dark art of the black magic that is electrical engineering. Not only can you not see electricity, but with underground cabling, you can’t see the cables either. This presentation will help improve understanding of this part of engineering and present some practical tips for Underground Design. Using studies from cable capacity modelling software CYMCAP some different scenarios for cable layout are explored. Is it better to have cables in conduit or direct buried? What is the effect of reducing the spacing between cables compared to increasing the size of the conductor? What physical ground properties should you be aware of when considering a design? These and other questions will be discussed using a Solar Plant design scenario. IEEE Global Humanitarian Technology Conference (GHTC) Student Poster Competition
The deadline for submitting an abstract for the IEEE Global Humanitarian Technology Conference (GHTC) Student Poster Competition is October 2, 2020. Students are invited to send ideas or designs for developing projects/products supporting the Key focus areas of GHTC 2020 including (but are not limited to): Affordable & Clean Energy Agriculture & Food Security Clean Water & Sanitation Connectivity & Communication in Support of Development Good Health and Well Being Disaster Mitigation, Preparedness, Response & Recovery Quality Education Other Related United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. Recently, there have been several important regulatory actions in the United States in response to industry developments of the next generation of mobile technologies. Following the release of several GHz of spectrum in the mmwave and sub-mmwave ranges a few years ago, the US FCC embarked upon releasing additional spectrum in the mid-ranges to accelerate the expansion of 5G. These efforts, aside from being exceptionally expeditious, have used novel approaches to arrive at suitable regulatory solutions. From financial incentives to FSS operators in C-band to devising an Automated Frequency Coordination (AFC) vehicle in 6 GHz, these bold solutions are leading to several “first of its kind” solutions, paving the way towards taking full advantage of recent technological developments such as 5G and Wi-Fi 6E. This online presentation will focus on the development and simulation procedure to determine the specific absorption rate (SAR) and the corresponding temperature rise due to electromagnetic waves incident on a human head. The human head model is based on medical magnetic resonance images (MRI) that are discretized to fit in the simulation domain.
